Learn Serbian quickly and stress free!

The Serbian language course held weekly at the Norwegian Embassy has been a great learning experience for the embassy staff – not only language wise but also cultural wise.
Only two of us completed the whole course but that was not due to the quality of the teaching but for other reasons such as tight work schedules and maternity leave. We have not attended any other Serbian language classes, so we have no comparison, but the content and progression of this course seems very sound and logical. Our teacher, Dunja, is besides a competent lecturer also a very nice and pleasant person to be in the class with. We can absolutely recommend this course to anybody wanting to learn about the Serbian language and culture.

Learning Serbian at first seemed quite a reach at my age, especially through an online course and in a very hectic working schedule. Serbian Corner and my teacher Dunja made it so easy. Never felt uncomfortable or pressured before and after the classes. Learning Serbian has turned out to be a joy for me. Beside the language, Dunja is always ready to help me better understand the culture and life in Serbia.

Недавно сам похађао курс „Konverzacijski kurs B1+“. Курс је био подељен по темама, сваки час је имао нову тему, на пример „серије“ или „код доктора“. Био је користан за проширење речника, али би било одлично када би теме биле актуелније, на пример „у министарству за странце“.6

Kurs je bio veseo i zabavan. Najzanimljivija stvar na kursu su, naravno, razgovori uživo, šale i diskusije o zanimljivim temama – i sve to ne onlajn, vec‌ lično. Kurs mi je dao motivaciju da se vratim gramatici i naučim vremena i padeže – haha!

I highly recommend the B1 communication course of Serbian Corner school to those, who already speak Serbian at some level, have studied grammar, but are afraid to speak. Dunja is an excellent teacher, and the small group classes were really useful. We were also able to participate in choosing the topics, so we practiced communication necessary for our everyday Serbian life. Our vocabulary improved, including slang. We received great materials on every class. I also found it useful that the classes were live. I will definitely continue next semester.

Konverzacijski kurs B1. Volim naš kurs jako! Bilo je veselo i korisno za mene, mislim počela da pričam slobodno zbog njega (i naših časova). Sve teme (kao socijalne mreže, kod lekara, itd) bile su vrlo korisne, koristila sam leksiku u životu često. I bilo je lako zbog toga šta imamo super društvo ❤️ nadam se da nastavimo u septembru!

Дуня настоящий профессионал. Я сама преподаватель иностранных языков с
десетилетним опытом, поэтому очень требовательна к методике преподавания. После
нескольких месяцев поиска и пары школ сербского языка, я наконец-то нашла Дуню –
первого преподавателя сербского в моей жизни, которому мне не хочется объяснять, как
нужно работать. Преподавателя, от которого я получаю вдохновение для своей работы и с
которым могу развиваться в нужном мне темпе. Не смотря на то, что Дуня говорит на
английском и на русском, она умеет объяснять сербский на сербском, а это позволяет
студентам  быстрее заговорить и даже начать думать на сербском. Если вы действительно
хотите говорить, а не просто понимать слова и грамматику – Дуня лучший выбор.

Dunja is a true professional. I am a foreign language teacher with ten years of experience myself,
so I am very demanding when it comes to teaching methods. After several months of searching
and trying out a couple of Serbian language schools, I finally found Dunja – the first Serbian
teacher in my life whom I don't have to explain how to teach. A teacher who inspires me in my
own work and with whom I can progress at the pace I need. Despite the fact that Dunja speaks
English and Russian, she knows how to explain Serbian in Serbian, which allows students to
start speaking faster and even start thinking in Serbian. If you really want to speak and not just
understand words and grammar, Dunja is the best choice.

My name is Salah Adib and I am from Syria.
I would like to explain about my trip while learning Serbian with my teacher Dunja Tucović.
When I came here to Belgrade about 2 years ago I couldn't understand the grammars,
conversion between people and cyrillic alphabet very well after I finished some courses with my
teacher I became know the grammars for Serbian language by heart such as native speaker, I can
understand the conversion between public in addition I can read and understand cyrillic.
I would highly recommend my teacher Dunja for learning Serbian.

Dunja is a professional language instructor of the highest grade.  If you want to learn Serbian
correctly and to understand the spirit of the language, there is no one better.  I highly recommend

Me and Ms both started working together two years ago. We used to meet on Webex,
only occasionally meeting for offline lessons during my trips to Belgrade.
I am Polish and so far I spoke English, French and Russian. I decided to learn Serbian, although
the perceptive abilities of an adult, professional commitment and introverted character pose
a challenge to this task.

Ms Dunja Tucović proved ability to provide personalized teaching programme for such a person
who is no longer young, rather busy and has not thought about education for a long time.
Her clear pronunciation and accessible way of explaining even complex phrases makes lessons
well remembered. Thanks to her skills to present things the simplest way possible learning
becomes accessible and not discouraging.

Ms Dunja Tucović, also because she has already mastered another Slavic language, knows
perfectly well my difficulties in learning Serbian. This is not as simple a matter as it may seem,
and even a challenge if you want to use the language without constantly making mistakes.
For these reasons, she focuses on working on aspects that may be difficult in my situation
(vocabulary, sentence structures, practicing the conjugation of nouns, which is different
and confusing in our languages).

Ms Dunja Tucović demonstrated appropriate organizational awareness and sensitivity,
as well as the ability to integrate an intercultural perspective in conversation. She is really
interesting to get to know about the needs and interests of her students as people from different
countries and of different backgrounds. Conversations with the Professor are interesting
and inspiring, sometimes even intriguing.
More, Ms Dunja Tucović understood my personal needs and my difficulties in learning,
as well as my often changing commitment to learning. Thanks to her attitude and patience,

we have managed to not get bored with each other for 2 years and continue with lessons that still
seem to bring new knowledge about ourselves, our languages and different ways of thinking.
To sum up, Ms Dunja Tucović is a professional with strong background in teaching Serbian.
She possess demonstrable organizational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
She’s very committed to her work, can perfectly adjust to various demands of a working
environment. I have met friendly, supportive, and hardworking teacher.

My son is nine years old, and he has some passive knowledge of Serbian, but he needs more practice to start speaking the language. He lives in an English-speaking household; his father doesn’t speak English, so the only person he can talk to in Serbian is me, which is insufficient to learn the language proficiently. Another disadvantage is that my son was diagnosed with childhood apraxia when he was two and needed speech therapy to learn how to speak English. Apraxia made it difficult for him to pronounce the Serbian sounds. We are delighted to have found Aleksandra Milisavljevic and her online school “Serbian Corner” to support our family’s goal to raise our son to be bilingual. His teacher, Vesna, has been working with him wonderfully, with a lot of patience, humor, and understanding of the difficulties in pronouncing different sounds of the Serbian language. What I like the most is how cooperative and inclusive Serbian Corner is in accepting and initiating parental input on the best teaching approaches. They listen to the parents regarding their children’s interests and learning experiences, which is important considering the cultural differences between Serbian and American school systems, for example. Mateja has been making a lot of progress, and, to my great delight, he started saying complete sentences in Serbian when working with Vesna. I know that with more time and additional reinforcement at home, he will converse with me in Serbian daily. That would be a dream come true, and I will be forever grateful to the American Corner, Aleksandra, and Vesna.

We have had a great experience with Serbian Corner school. Alexandra has been working with three of my children remotely for a couple of years now on a regular basis. The children started without any meaningful knowledge of Serbian and are advancing nicely. Alexandra has extensive teaching experience, and she knows ahead of time what material will take a longer time to acquire and requires more effort. Alexandra is a wonderful teacher. 

She is always ready to adjust the lessons to make learning interesting. I look forward to every lesson. 

We practice speaking and grammar, which was important to me. We often talk about interesting topics, news, movies, art, various common interests. I try to switch to English, she softly and persistently switches me back to Serbian. 

Of course, we also learn a lot of grammar. She always presents the rules of academic grammar in detail, which is not always helpful for learning the rules, but helps to understand the complexity of the Serbian language. But in addition to various textbooks, Alexandra creates her own interesting and fun exercises. These exercises help me a lot to remember the rules of using cases and tenses in an unobtrusive way. 

It is especially important for me because I quickly get bored of monotonous classes with primitive texts.
